Can You Clean AC Ducts Yourself?
You can handle the maintenance side: wash register covers, vacuum the reachable part of each boot, replace the filter, and check that the condensate line drains while the AC runs. Leave the coil, blower and duct runs to a professional. Coil fins bend easily, and brushing ducts without negative pressure blows dust into the house.
Drawbacks of AC Duct Cleaning

- Careless technicians damage ducts, coils and blowers.
- Chemical fogging adds cost without proven benefit; research hasn't shown biocides work inside ducts, per the EPA.

How Often Should AC Ducts Be Cleaned?
